The 64th International Cycling Race Dookoła Mazowsza
The 64th International Cycling Race Around Mazovia will start on 14 July. The first stage will take place in Teresin and it will have 8 rounds of 21 km each, making 168 km long. The second stage will start in Baboszewo on the anniversary of the Grunwald Battle. The same distance as in Teresin, on the traditional route of the memorial race of Andrzej Trochanowski. The third stage in Grodzisk Mazowiecki will also be held on the round of just under 21 km (the total distance is 166 km). On 17 July the fourth and at the same time the last stage in Kozienice. Round 31.3 km, stage distance 165 km. All stages have common features: – joint-start – Presentations at 12 – Start of stage at 13 – played on rounds – Arrival at the finish line 16: 30 – 17: 00 This year the race will be run without a time trial. 26 teams registered to take part in the 64th edition, including 17 foreign and 9 Polish teams, 156 riders altogether. However, the COVID tests that all competitors, as well as the judges and some of the organizers, must pass will determine who will ultimately compete. The decision is at the discretion of the UCI, because there all research goes into a special application. The favourites, as always at our race, are the excellent sprinters. The ELKOV-KASPER squad includes two winners of previous editions, Michael Kukrle and Alois Kankovsky. The big unknowns are the players from the Netherlands, Germany and Norway. Two Polish groups stand out – Voster ATS Team and HRE Mazowsze Serce Polski, where the leading Polish sprinter Alan Banaszek rides. Ladies and gentlemen Cheer on the riders during the races, as there are few opportunities like this in cycling. Fractions of seconds, speed, characteristic “rants”, a moment of inattention often take away the chances of success. This year’s race, as in previous years, will certainly create a new cycling star. It will provide an opportunity to launch a global career. Who will join Sagan, Kluge and Aniolkowski? Looking forward to it🙂
